Celtic midfielder Kris Commons is eager for the Hoops to wrap up the league title at the earliest possible moment once the league resumes post the international break.

Commons missed several of Celtic’s games of late due to a hamstring injury, including the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Dundee United and the league defeat to St. Johnstone.

And the 31-year-old is now back to full fitness and he is keen to help Ronny Deila’s side, who have already won the Scottish League Cup, wrap up a historic domestic treble.

"We have some huge games coming up with the semi-final and we want to try and win this league sooner rather than later”, he told Celtic View.

“These are exciting times for us at the minute.”

Commons has retired from international football and he is hoping that his team-mates return to Celtic from their international duties without any injury concerns to damage the remainder of their campaign.

“It’s always difficult with internationals as you are hoping and wishing that everyone does well and gets the results that they want, but you want them to come back fresh and injury-free.

“If you start picking up injuries on international duty that’s the most frustrating thing for a club manager, but the boys have a commitment do well for their country and do well at a top level.

“Hopefully they come back feeling fresh and feeling good, having put in some good performances that will keep them going.”

Celtic will resume their league campaign with their match against St Mirren on 3rd April post the international break; having taken a five-point lead at the top of the table they appear on course to winning their fourth successive league title.

The Bhoys recommence their Scottish FA Cup charge with their semi-final tie against Inverness Caledonian Thistle due to be played on 19th April.
