Mateo Kovacic's agent has stamped on talk that his client is set to link up with Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The Croatia international, who turns out for Italian Serie A side Inter, has been strongly linked with heading to Anfield for a fee of around €30m, with Liverpool looking to snap up a successor to Steven Gerrard.

Inter are keen to keep hold of Kovacic, though it has been claimed a big-money offer could change their stance as they look to secure funds to continue rebuilding their side in the summer.

But Kovacic's agent has now dismissed reports that Liverpool are on the verge of signing his client and claims he is not in talks with any club over a move away from the San Siro.

The Croat's agent was quoted as saying by Sky Italia: "I'm not talking with other clubs.

"Mateo has signed a new contract with Inter and he will not move."

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will attempt to tempt Inter into a sale when the transfer window swings back open in the summer.

Kovacic has also been linked with two other English clubs in the form of Arsenal and Manchester United.
