Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt has admitted he is desperate to return home when his contract with Fenerbahce expires this summer, despite knowing he could earn more elsewhere.

Kuyt is wanted back at former club Feyenoord and appears likely to head back to De Kuip to play out the remainder of his career.

The former Liverpool forward has received a whole host of offers from across Europe, the majority of which would see him far exceed the wages on offer at Feyenoord.

But for Kuyt, who has been away from the Netherlands since 2006, money comes second to heading back to his homeland.

The 34-year-old explained to Turkish daily Milliyet: "I want to return to the Netherlands, even though I can earn more elsewhere in Europe."

Kuyt will hope to walk away from Fenerbahce on a high, with the Yellow Canaries currently involved in a thrilling title race in Turkey.

Fenerbahce currently sit third in the Super Lig, but are just one point behind second placed Besiktas and two off leaders Galatasaray.

Kuyt has made 25 appearances for Fenerbahce in the Super Lig this term, scoring eight goals.
