Bayern Munich full-back David Alaba’s father has held talks with Real Madrid officials over a possible summer switch to Spain for his son.

The Austrian international joined Bayern Munich’s youth academy in 2008 and quickly progressed through the ranks to establish himself as a regular under former manager Jupp Heynckes.

Alaba’s status as a regular starter has continued unhinged under Pep Guardiola too and he is one of the most crucial members of the Spaniard’s squad at the Allianz Arena.

However, the Austrian’s father feels that his son needs a change of scenery to continue progressing as a footballer and according to Marca, Real Madrid officials met George Alaba in Vienna to discuss a potential summer switch for his son to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid want to strengthen their squad for next season with the best available talent and the 22-year-old is considered one of the best full-backs in the world.

However, with still more than three years left on his contract with the club, Bayern Munich current hold all the aces in the transfer saga and Real Madrid believe a bid of around €40m would be required to convince the German champions to sanction David’s sale.

However, Los Blancos understand a deal will ultimately boil down to the player’s wishes and whether he wants to call time on his Bayern Munich career at the end of the season.

At 22, David has already made 172 appearances for the Bavarians and has earned 33 international caps for Austria.
