West Ham are ready to rekindle their interest in Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang and are set to make a fresh approach for him in the summer, it has been claimed.

The Hammers were keen to take the Spanish midfielder to Upton Park at the end of last season, but Sampdoria priced him out of a move to England.

However, West Ham have continued to track his progress in Italy throughout the season and are now preparing the groundwork for a fresh approach this summer.

The Hammers hierarchy have been impressed with his performances at Sampdoria and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the club are keen to rekindle their interest in the 22-year-old midfielder.

Sampdoria slapped a non-negotiable €6m asking price on the Spaniard's head last summer and it remains to be seen whether they again take a tough stance in negotiations if West Ham come calling at the end of the season.
