Chelsea Under-19 forward Izzy Brown feels that the potential of England Under-19s suggests that they are poised to achieve great things in future.

The 18-year-old was given the captain’s armband by the Young Lions’ manager Sean O’Driscoll for their 3-2 win over Denmark in their opening UEFA elite qualifying match on Thursday night.

The striker, who celebrated his captaincy by scoring his team’s first goal against Denmark, feels that the England Under-19 side have a lot of potential and if they live up to their billing they will surely find a spot in the 2015 Euros due to be held in Greece later this year.

Brown was part of the England Under-17 team that won the Euros in Malta last year after defeating the Netherlands on penalties and he is eager to continue his heroics by guiding O’Driscoll’s side to Greece in July.

“This team is still gelling together because we’ve got a couple of new players here and a few players are missing”, he was quoted as saying by the FA.

“It’s going to take us time to gel but we’ll keep getting stronger and stronger throughout the week.

“I’m sure we’ll keep scoring goals because we’ve got a great attacking threat.

“We’ve got a great group of players both here and back in England. Our strength in depth is unreal. I’m very confident that we can make it to the Euros.”

A regular for Chelsea's Under-21 side, Brown has scored five times and assisted a further eight goals in all competitions for the Blues this term thus far.
