Neil Redfearn says he will be honest with the powers that be at Leeds United over which players should be kept in the summer and which should be sent on their way.

The Whites have question marks over the futures of a number of players at the club, not least several loan signings, whose agreements run out in the summer.

As head coach, Redfearn only has the power to recommend signings and departures, with the nitty gritty business of transfers and contracts being left in the hands of sporting director Nicola Salerno and, in the absence of owner Massimo Cellino who is serving a Football League ban, chairman Andrew Umbers.

Redfearn was asked about the situation of players coming to the end of their deals at Leeds and what he will recommend, and he explained to BBC Radio Leeds: "I've just got to be honest.

"There's no point in just saying the things they want to hear or telling them that I think someone's good if they are not, or someone's got a future if they haven't.

"Then it's not fair for the lad either because if I'm here and want to be successful then I've got to pick the players I think will win football matches", he added.

Leeds currently have defenders Sol Bamba and Dario Del Fabro, midfielders Granddi N'Goyi, Adryan and Zan Benedicic, and forward Brian Montenegro all at the club on loan.

Of the club's players out on loan, forward Nicky Ajose was signed last summer and has impressed in a spell at League One side Crewe Alexandra.

Redfearn himself is not yet sure of being in charge of Leeds next season, with his contract yet to be renewed.
