Miralem Pjanic is actively assessing options to quit Roma in the summer, news which will music to Liverpool's ears.

Brendan Rodgers' Reds have been strongly linked with moving for the Bosnian midfielder in recent days as they line up a replacement for club icon Steven Gerrard, who is heading for Los Angeles Galaxy when his contract expires in the summer.

Pjanic is high up on Rodgers' list, with the Northern Irishman a big fan of the creative midfielder, and it has even been claimed in some quarters a deal is well on the way to being done.

And according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Rodgers may be pushing at an open door if he tries to take Pjanic to Anfield.

The Bosnia international is unhappy with criticism which has been levelled at him in the Italian capital and is actively assessing his options, with a move away from Roma a genuine possibility.

Roma are keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old, but are not expected to put up stiff resistance if Pjanic pushes to leave.

The Serie A giants would however attempt to extract the maximum possible transfer fee from his sale.

Roma snapped Pjanic up from French outfit Lyon in 2011, splashing out €11m to secure his signature.
