Manchester United reserves coach Warren Joyce is looking forward to the Under-19 side’s adventure against tougher European teams in the Nike Academy Cup.

The event is being staged at St George's Park and the Red Devils are sending their Under-19 team to the competition to gain exposure against tougher European counterparts.

The itinerary states that Manchester United will take on Monaco tomorrow before facing the Under-19 team of Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

Joyce is excited about the young Red Devils taking on European opponents, which he feels will present a different set of challenges to the youngsters, who are more used to playing English teams and said he will be looking to utilise the full squad for the tournament to allow most of the players to gain experience from it.

He believes it is a good opportunity for the Under-19 team to test their acumen against European opponents and believes the exposure will play a crucial part in their development.

"We'll play Monaco and Hertha Berlin and they will be two different tests for us, against foreign opposition and playing on something of a bowling green," Joyce told the club’s official site.

"I'm looking forward to the tournament. It's a good opportunity to take the lads away and get them together to play different opponents.

“We'll rotate the squad around for the two games and some of our younger players may get a taste of it as well."
