Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn is keen for the situation regarding his contract at the club to be resolved as quickly as possible and hinted he has a glamour friendly lined up for the Whites for pre-season.

Redfearn was handed the permanent reins at Elland Road earlier this season and has transformed Leeds into one of the most in-form teams in the Championship since the turn of the year, firmly banishing any relegation worries.

However, the former midfielder sees his contract with Leeds expire in the summer and despite his repeated calls for clarity over his future, the situation is quiet.

Redfearn accepts the situation is not ideal with club owner Massimo Cellino away from the club on a Football League ban, but has emphasised the importance of his future being resolved in order to plan for next season effectively.

He also hinted at having a friendly lined up which would excite the Leeds faithful.

"The problem, and people will realise this, is that the president's away, he's on his ban, [chairman] Andrew Umbers is in charge in his stead. My contract is up and has to be addressed in the summer", the head coach told BBC Radio Leeds.

"From my point of view and the football club's point of view it's important that it gets addressed sooner rather than later, that is a real definite.

"But I think the club will make the decision in their own time. I can only do what I'm doing and try and win football matches.

"The results have been good, the performances have been a lot better, so hopefully that puts me in a good position", Redfearn continued, before explaining what he has been able to do in terms of planning for next season at Elland Road.

"It's not an ideal set of circumstances if it drags on too long. You want to start planning. I've pretty much got pre-season planned, I know the dates, I know where I want to take the lads and the games; we've got one game in particular that's an exciting game for supporters if we can get it across the line.

"These things are important if you can crack on with them, a good pre-season plan, knowing what your squad's about, knowing what players you've got, what players you can bring in. These are all key points you want to crack on with as the man in charge."

Redfearn's Leeds are next in Championship action against Blackburn Rovers after the international break, a game which is quickly followed by a visit to face Wolverhampton Wanderers just two days later.
