England manager Roy Hodgson is ready to send Harry Kane to the Under-21 European Championship with the England squad this summer.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward’s participation in the tournament in the Czech Republic has been a major bone of contention between the club and the England boss.

Mauricio Pochettino wants his prolific goalscorer to take the summer off and recharge his batteries for next season, but Hodgson is keen to send the striker to the Under-21 European Championship to boost England’s chances.

And it seems Hodgson may eventually have his away after he revealed that he wants Kane to have big tournament experience with the England Under-21 side this summer.

The England boss also added that the striker has played a major role in England qualifying for the tournament and it would be unfair on Kane if he is left out of the final squad.

"The thinking basically is he’s been a major part of the under-21 qualification campaign – he fully deserves now to get the rewards from that hard work”, Hodgson told ITV.

"Harry was very important there [in qualifying], he obviously would like to be part of a that tournament

"He’s not been to a major tournament with England so we see nothing other than benefits there."

Kane is set to make his senior England debut later tonight in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania, while he will also hope to be involved against Italy three days later.
