Barcelona midfielder Xavi has travelled to Doha during the international break to agree personal terms with Qatari side Al Sadd, it has been claimed.

The former Spanish international was linked with a move to numerous Qatari clubs last summer and it was speculated that he was close to agreeing a deal with MLS side New York City.

However, the middle-east is set to be his next destination after Mundo Deportivo claimed that the veteran midfielder has travelled to Doha to finalise a deal to join Qatari outfit Al Sadd.

The Spaniard is set to put pen to paper to a multi-year contract with Al Sadd, which will earn him around €10m per season and will have an option of an additional year.

The deal also includes a role for Xavi in Al Sadd’s Aspire Academy, where he is expected to play a major part in training the next generation of Qatari footballers.
