England will be without Raheem Sterling, Danny Welbeck, James Milner and Leighton Baines against Italy on Tuesday evening.

Sterling, Baines and Welbeck all turned out for England in their 4-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Lithuania last night at Wembley, but Hodgson named Sterling and Welbeck as injury doubts after the match.

Now having had time to take stock of his squad and their fitness levels, Hodgson has revealed that four players will not travel with the Three Lions to Turin.

The England manager was quoted as saying by the BBC: "We knew we were going to be losing Raheem Sterling who had an injection last night on an on-going injury and hopefully that will help him as we go forward.

"We have a problem with James Milner who had to leave, we decided to let Leighton Baines go home and of course we lost Danny Welbeck who unfortunately picked up a slight knee injury against Lithuania.

"So those four players won't be with us going forward but it means a chance for the other guys in the squad to show what they can do."

Hodgson has now called up Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand as a replacement for Baines for the Italy encounter.

England were in fine form against Lithuania on Friday evening at Wembley with Wayne Rooney, Welbeck, Sterling and Harry Kane all getting amongst the goals in a comprehensive win, making it five wins from five group games for Hodgson's men.

The Three Lions will look to keep their good run going when they face Antonio Conte's Italy in Turin on Tuesday evening.
