Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has been offered to Barcelona as a potential signing, according to Catalan daily Sport.

The England international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and appears set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.

Johnson has been strongly linked with several clubs in Italy, including Serie A outfit Roma, but the defender has yet to give a firm commitment to any side.

And now he has been offered to Barcelona, who could lose right-back Dani Alves in the summer months.

Alves' contract with Barcelona expires in the summer and he is expected to end his lengthy association with the Catalan giants.

The rampaging Brazilian defender is of interest to Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, while Johnson's Liverpool have also been linked with making a move.

It remains to be seen whether Johnson will replace Alves at the Camp Nou however, with Barcelona thought to be unsure of a move given the defender's consistent injury issues.
