Fernando Torres has spoken warmly of his feelings for Liverpool fans, dubbing the Reds faithful "different".

Torres strutted his stuff at Anfield between 2007 and 2011 and was in prolific form during his time in a red shirt, striking fear into the hearts of opposing defences. In total the Spaniard scored 81 goals in a red shirt.

In his time playing under Rafael Benitez at Liverpool, the Reds hit the top of UEFA's club rankings, being ranked the top club in the whole of Europe due to their consistent results.

Torres' relationship with Liverpool fans soured somewhat in January 2011 when he left the club to join Premier League rivals Chelsea for £50m.

Now back at boyhood club Atletico Madrid, Torres will be back at Anfield on Sunday when Liverpool's famous ground plays host to an All-Star Charity Game between two sides, led by Reds legends Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, respectively.

And Torres cannot wait to perform once again in front of Liverpool fans, feeling they are part of his heart and always will be.

He told the club's site: "I'm not sure [what the reception will be]. I will say to everybody that what the media says about the relationship between Liverpool fans and me after I left was not the reality.

"Everybody knows the kind of reaction Liverpool fans had when we met on the street in London or when I went back to Liverpool – everybody gave me thanks for everything I did in Liverpool.

"That is what I feel for them.

"For me, Liverpool fans are always going to be different; I had probably the best period of my career wearing the red shirt and all my memories are great.

"I have nothing bad to say about them and I never will – they treated me like one of them and I felt at home in my time there.

"It is going to be amazing going back; hopefully the reception will be better than the one I had when I went with Chelsea.

"But it doesn't matter what happens really. Liverpool fans are part of my heart and my feelings – everything I felt when I was a Liverpool player is inside me and no one is going to take that away from me."
