AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has revealed he had an offer from Chelsea during Gianluca Vialli's time in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Vialli was Chelsea manager between 1998 and 2000 and set his mind to tempting Maldini to leave AC Milan for a new adventure in England.

The former Juventus striker even called Maldini personally in an effort to tempt him to join Chelsea. But the defender had his heart set on playing for AC Milan for his entire career.

"Vialli called me and wanted me at Chelsea, so that I could have a new challenge in England", Maldini told Rai.

"However, I always felt that my career as a player would start and end in a Milan shirt."
