Daley Blind has paid tribute to Manchester United team-mate David de Gea, who he feels must take all the credit for his improvement between the sticks to become one of the world's top goalkeepers.

De Gea has been in superb form for Manchester United this season, saving his side when called upon on numerous occasions and playing a big part in the Red Devils' push to return to the Premier League's top four.

The Spaniard has been roundly praised and Blind revealed that his improvement is not by chance, but by consistent hard work and a desire to improve, noting that the custodian is constantly improving.

Blind told MUTV: "David is doing a great job here this season. He’s one of the best keepers in the world at the moment. We’re very happy that he’s in the goal and he has made some great saves.

"All the credit goes to him. He works very hard and is getting better all the time.

"His shot-stopping is one of his best skills but you also have to look at how he plays [with his feet] and how he comes for crosses – the way he has improved that is very impressive.

"He has got better in every way. The skills when he is saving goals and also the skills with his feet – they make him an all-round keeper and that’s one of the best things about him", the Dutch midfielder added.

De Gea may play against club team-mate Blind on Tuesday evening when his Spain side lock horns with the midfielder's Netherlands side in an international friendly.

De Gea was an unused substitute for Spain in their Euro 2016 qualifying win over the Ukraine on Friday, but may get the vote to feature in the friendly against the Netherlands.
