Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels admits he cannot make up his mind over whether to leave the club for an experience abroad.

Hummels has been strongly linked with Louis van Gaal's Manchester United and given that Borussia Dortmund appear unlikely to be playing Champions League football next term given their Bundesliga troubles, a summer move has been mooted.

But the Germany international says that no decision has been taken over whether he will stay or go and admitted that he often changes his mind about what would be best from day to day.

Hummels explained to German magazine Kicker: "Sometimes I feel like I want to go abroad anyway, but there are also days when I do not want that at all."

The defender does however accept that having a spell away from the Bundesliga would help him develop both as a player and a person.

"I think a transfer abroad would be good for my sporting and personal development, but I have not yet decided", he added.

And in what is a boost to Borussia Dortmund's hopes of keeping him, Hummels insists though that whether the club manage to qualify for Europe next season will not influence his decision one way or the other.

"Everyone knows how much I am enjoying myself at Dortmund, but I also want to keep playing well and with a dominant team.

"It also has no effect on my decision whether we play in next season's Europa League or not", he added.

Hummels has clocked up 17 appearances in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, but has been unable to help the side meet their pre-season objectives of challenging Bayern Munich for the title.
