Kurt Zouma says the main thing he has learned since joining Chelsea is to develop a hatred of losing and if the side do go down to defeat, it is forbidden to then act normally for the rest of the day.

The Blues snapped up the young centre-back from French outfit Saint-Etienne in January 2014, but loaned him back to the Ligue 1 side to complete the season.

It had been speculated that Chelsea would send Zouma out on another loan last summer, but boss Jose Mourinho decided to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

And Mourinho has regularly thrown the young defender into the cut and thrust of Premier League action, with Zouma impressing and helping Chelsea to sit on top of the Premier League.

Zouma has learned much at Chelsea, but key he says is to hate losing.

"To hate defeat [is what I’ve learned]", he told L'Equipe.

"When you lose it's out of bounds to continue as normal in the evening.

"When you play for Chelsea you must not accept losing."

Zouma has made a total of 20 appearances for Chelsea so far this season, even chipping in with two goals in the process.

The 20-year-old regularly competes with Gary Cahill and John Terry for a centre-back spot, though has on occasion been started as a defensive midfielder by Mourinho.
