Dirk Kuyt may have set his heart on returning to the Netherlands at the end of the season, but Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is working overtime to convince the 34-year-old to stop off in England, according to Turkish outlet Sporx.

Kuyt currently plays for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, but has already informed the club he will not renew his contract, which is due to come to an end at the end of June.

The forward's former club Feyenoord are keen to snap him up on a free transfer, but no deal has yet been done, despite Kuyt insisting his next move is not about money and he is keen to head home.

Koeman however is doing all he can to tempt Kuyt to Southampton, feeling the 34-year-old could add significantly to his squad at St. Mary's.

Kuyt has experience of the cut and thrust of the Premier League, having clocked up six years with Liverpool between 2006 and 2012, before leaving for Fenerbahce.
