Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe says he is not disheartened by his injury blow and has vowed to come back stronger.

The 19-year-old was recalled from a loan spell with Championship side Derby County earlier this term and instantly put into the Reds first team by manager Brendan Rodgers.

Ibe impressed, turning in star displays in several games, including in the Merseyside derby against Everton, before picking up an injury in Europa League action in February against Besiktas.

The 19-year-old has a knee injury, but is staying positive and aiming to be in better shape than ever when he eventually returns.

"It was the ligament on the side of my knee and they said I could be out for six to eight weeks, but everything has gone smoothly from here and hopefully I can crack on now and get back in action", Ibe told LFC TV.

And Ibe is taking a philosophical view of his injury woe, adding: "Things happen for a reason, so hopefully I can learn from this and build up the strength of my knee for me to come back strong and hopefully do even better.

"I just need to keep doing my rehab and doing my stuff in the gym, outside and in the swimming pool to build things up to get back on the training pitch."

In Ibe's absence Liverpool have continued their push to finish in the Premier League's top four, but suffered a recent blow when going down 2-1 at home to Manchester United, a result which has left the Reds sitting five points off a top four spot.

Liverpool are next in action away at Arsenal after the international break in a game against another one of their top four rivals.
