Arsenal have told Inter they will have to pay €7m if they want to sign Lukas Podolski on a permanent basis, something which now ensures the German will be returning to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Inter snapped Podolski up on loan until the end of the season in the winter transfer window, with the German having grown frustrated at warming the bench at Arsenal.

Adapting to the demands of Italian football has not been easy for the forward however, who is still waiting to score his first goal in Serie A.

Now Inter have decided they will not try to sign Podolski permanently after Arsenal slapped a €7m asking price on his head, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

The Nerazzurri feel the Gunners' valuation of Podolski is too high and are now switching their attention to other options.

It remains to be seen whether Podolski will be happy to return to Arsenal in the summer, with regular first team football his overriding aim for next term.

It is also unclear whether Arsenal will consider lowering their €7m valuation of the Germany international forward.
