Borussia Dortmund are closing in on a new contract for in-demand midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to German magazine Kicker.

Jurgen Klopp's men have been in talks with Gundogan's representatives over extending his stay at the club and are confident a deal can be closed off in a matter of weeks.

Such suggestions will come as a disappointment to the midfielder's suitors, a group which is said to include both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Gundogan has eased himself back this season from a serious back injury which threatened his career. The midfielder has made 16 Bundesliga appearances for the Ruhr giants this term, scoring twice and providing three assists.

Borussia Dortmund recently convinced Marco Reus to pen a new contract and keeping Gundogan from the exit door would be another feather in the club's cap.
