Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is elated by the chance to finish his inaugural season at Stamford Bridge with a domestic double.

Fabregas has been an ever-present fixture in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven since he joined the Blues at the start of the current season from his boyhood club Barcelona.

In his 26 appearances for the Pensioners in the Premier League thus far, Fabregas has assisted 16 goals and scored twice to help Chelsea take a commanding six-point lead the top of the table over the reigning champions Manchester City.

The 2010 World Cup winner has already won his first trophy in the colours of Chelsea when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the League Cup at Wembley on 1st March. And Fabregas is now relishing the prospect of winning a double in his inaugural season at Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage after losing to Paris Saint-Germain on away goals over the two legs.

When asked if he rues the Blues’ exit from Europe, Fabregas insisted that he does, but he is pleased with the way the west London outfit are doing domestically.

“Of course we are hurting”, he said in an interview with Marca.

“Everyone expects you to win against ten men, but sometimes things don't turn out as you want them to.

“We have the chance to do a double and we mustn't let ourselves relax even for second.”
