Fenerbahce are keen on snapping up Robin van Persie from Manchester United in the summer and are confident the Dutchman can be tempted to Turkey.

Van Persie has had a poor campaign at Old Trafford this term, managing to score just ten goals in the Premier League for Louis van Gaal, placing a question mark over his future with the Red Devils.

The Dutchman is keen to play on for as long as possible, but Manchester United have not yet spoken to the striker over extending a contract which expires next summer.

It all paints what Fenerbahce believe is an encouraging picture in their desire to sign Van Persie, according to Turkish sports daily Fanatik.

Fenerbahce will lose Van Persie's countryman Dirk Kuyt in the summer, when his contract at the club expires, and are dreaming of bringing in the Manchester United man as a replacement.

Van Persie made an instant splash at Manchester United when he landed at the club from Arsenal and won the Premier League title in his first campaign at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman could not repeat his heroics last term however, despite scoring regularly, as Manchester United struggled under David Moyes, who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson.

Van Gaal had been tipped to bring the best out of his countryman this season, but Van Persie has misfired, with concerns over injuries and form.
