Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has lavished praise on Liverpool supporters, saying that the Reds’ fans are “amazing.”

Henry retired from football at the end of last year after a distinguished career at club level and with his country France.

During his eight-year spell with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, Henry went on to win the Premier League twice and the FA Cup three times; following his stint in England, he joined Barcelona and his three-year stint in Catalonia saw him win La Liga twice, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2009.

Renowned for his prolific goalscoring, the 37-year-old won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and was named the FWA Footballer of the Year three times. His successful time at Arsenal saw the club install his statue at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman played eight times at Anfield with Arsenal and returned to the hallowed turf last Sunday to play in an All-Star Charity Game and he has praised the Reds’ faithful for the support they show their team.

“I've said so many times they are amazing”, Henry told the Liverpool site.

“When they are singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', it is just amazing.

“It was the first time that I could, and was allowed, to watch it and enjoy it and it is great. This crowd has won so many points for the team.

“What a day for Stevie G [Steven Gerrard], what a day for Carra [Jamie Carragher] and what a day for the club. I was just happy to be a small part of it."
