Arsenal and Liverpool linked striker Alexandre Lacazette is expected to disappoint his suitors by staying at current club Lyon beyond the summer.

Lacazette is the top scorer in the French top flight this season with 23 goals in 26 appearances for Lyon and has been attracting interest from clubs in France and abroad.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have been tracking his progress at the Stade de Gerland and there is also strong interest from England, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all said to be keen to take him to the British Isles in the summer.

However, according to French sports daily L’Equipe the striker is expected to stay put in France and continue to develop at Lyon beyond the end of the season.

The club hierarchy are reluctant to sell the striker, whose goals have been key to them challenging PSG for the Ligue 1 title this season, and are close to convincing the forward to stay at Lyon.

At 23, Lacazette is keen to get a taste of Champions League and with Lyon occupying second position in Ligue 1 at the moment, the club are on course to secure a berth in the competition for next season.

However, the deciding factor is believed to be next summer’s European Championship, which is scheduled to be held in France. Lacazette has found a way into the French national team and is keen to take part in the tournament next year.

The striker feels changing clubs this summer might lead to some upheaval in his career and the forward is not keen to do anything that might remotely jeopardise his participation for France in Euro 2016.
