Bayern Munich full-back David Alaba picked up a knee injury while playing for Austria last night against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 22-year-old was taken off just before half-time after he picked up the knock and Austria boss Marcel Koller has raised concerns about the nature of the injury.

“David has a problem with his left knee, he felt a sharp pain”, Koller was quoted as saying by Bayern Munich’s official site.

“He’s not in great shape.”

Bayern Munich medical staff will make the full-back undergo tests today to determine the extent of the injury and the time he will require to recuperate from his latest setback.

The 22-year-old recently returned to action after sustaining a partial tear of the anterior ligament of his left knee last November and now he has developed a problem in his right knee.

Alaba is an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich side and has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season for the club, but has recently been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
