1.FC Koln defender Kevin Wimmer admits that moving to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer would be "wonderful".

Wimmer is thought to be on his way to White Hart Lane when the transfer window swings back open, but the defender admits that nothing has yet to be confirmed on his proposed switch to link up with Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The Austria international claims there is still work to do on his move to Spurs, but is already visibly excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League next season.

He told Austrian broadcaster Laola 1: "It looks good, but it's not yet confirmed. The talks are ongoing. If the whole thing goes onto the next stage, it would be a wonderful thing.

"The two clubs have yet to agree because of the transfer fee", Wimmer continued.

"They are still negotiating."

Wimmer also revealed that Spurs came calling for his services in the winter transfer window, however he did not want to leave Koln in mid-season, with much at stake for the club in the Bundesliga.

"The first discussions took place before Christmas, that I should come in the winter transfer window. There was a lot of interest. It would have been possible, but I really did not want to leave the club during the season."

For the defender though, a summer move to White Hart Lane would be perfect and something he feels would allow him to take the next step forward in his career.

"For me, the transfer is a big step", Wimmer admitted.

"It's a step to where I can develop myself. That's why I want to stake my claim"
