Tottenham Hotspur Under-18 boss Kieran McKenna insists that the Bellinzona Under-18 Tournament in Switzerland will be hugely beneficial for his team.

The 75th edition of the tournament will have a host of big names taking part, with clubs like Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan also visiting the city of Bellinzona.

The teams have been divided into two groups with the young Lilywhites having been drawn along with the young Atleti, Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow and local side Team Ticino in Group A.

The matches are scheduled to be played over the course of Thursday, Friday and Saturday and McKenna expects the experience to be a good one for his young side.

The academy boss also added that playing against some of the top European sides will provide his young players with much needed experience. The manager also feels that his side will also come to know about the different styles of playing and learn about how to cope with them.

“This is a really prestigious tournament that we’re delighted to have been invited to”, McKenna told his club's official website.

“We’ve got Atletico Madrid in the first game and then we play a Swiss select side and Lokomotiv Moscow, so we’re going to come up against some top European opposition with different styles of play.

“There will be other challenges as well, in terms of having to play on consecutive days, with all the ingredients that we look for in a tournament to provide experience for the players."

The London-based side are travelling with 18 players for the tournament and McKenna insists that he has full faith in his group.

“We’re going there with the majority of our Under-18s squad – they’re certainly a group that we’ve got a lot of faith in, so it’s going to be an excellent tournament.”
