Tottenham Hotspur have identified German goalkeeper Oliver Baumann as a potential signing this summer if they lose Hugo Lloris.

Lloris has continued to build his reputation between the sticks with Spurs this term and is widely considered one of the finest goalkeepers in European football.

The France international has been linked with a number of clubs amid suggestions he may look for the exit door at White Hart Lane if Tottenham once again miss out on qualifying for the Champions League.

Spurs are keen to fend off interest in Lloris, but are not sitting on their hands when it comes to considering who could replace him.

Indeed, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Spurs have zeroed in on Hoffenheim shot-stopper Baumann as their preferred replacement.

The 24-year-old custodian only joined Hoffenheim last summer from fellow German side Freiburg, penning a four-year contract.

Baumann has wasted little time in making the starting spot his own at Hoffenheim and has played in every one of the club's 26 Bundesliga games so far this season, keeping eight clean sheets.

It remains to be seen whether Hoffenheim would be prepared to consider parting with Baumann so soon after snapping him up.
