Chelsea have entered the race to sign Chilean midfielder and Arsenal target Charles Aranguiz from Brazilian outfit Internacional.

The midfielder's dogged displays for Chile at the World Cup last summer caught the attention of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who signed his international team-mate Alexis Sanchez.

The Frenchman has been keeping a close watch on Aranguiz since then and is keen to take him to England at the end of the season, but Internacional are playing hardball at the moment.

According to Chilean news broadcaster Emola, the Brazilian outfit have slapped an asking price of around £10m on the midfielder, but Arsenal are only willing to pay around £5m.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also started to take a keen interest in the Chilean international and are ready to go toe-to-toe with the Gunners for Aranguiz at the end of the season.

With Internacional making their demands clear, it remains to be seen whether the Blues also try to negotiate the price down or meet the Brazilian outfit’s asking price to edge Arsenal out of the race.

With 31 international caps to his name, Aranguiz was declared the Player of the Tournament of the 2014 Campeonato Gaucho as Internacional won the tournament for a record 43rd time.
