Lille are ready to make Liverpool target and Danish defender Simon Kjaer available in the market this summer to balance their books.

The club are currently eighth in Ligue 1 and with European qualification looking increasingly unlikely, the French outfit are ready to sell a few key players at the end of the season to ease some of the financial pressure on the club.

According to French daily L’Equipe, one of the players the club might be ready to sell in the summer is Danish international defender Kjaer.

The 26-year-old is one of the most important players in Rene Girard’s squad at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy and has made 36 appearances in all competitions this season.

Though he is a hugely influential centre-half, Lille are ready to offload him at the end of the season to earn some cash and Liverpool are one of the clubs who are said to be interested in the defender.

It emerged earlier this month that Liverpool have even sent scouting missions to Lille to run the rule over Kjaer and Brendan Rodgers is keen to add the experienced Danish international to his squad for next season.

Kjaer has earned 48 international caps for Denmark and has a contract with Lille until 2017.
