AC Milan and Juventus have joined the race for the signature of Liverpool-linked Lille central defender Simon Kjaer.

It emerged earlier this week that the Ligue 1 side are pondering selling their prized asset in the summer to ease some of the financial burdens on the club.

Liverpool scouts have already run the rule over the Danish international defender and it is believed Brendan Rodgers is looking at potentially taking the Dane to Anfield at the end of the season.

However, the Reds are in for a fight for the signature of Kjaer as according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Juventus and AC Milan are also taking a keen interest in the Lille defender.

Since Lille are believed to be ready to sell the defender, both the Italian giants are under the impression that the 26-year-old will be available in the market for a cut-price deal.

Therefore they are keen to jump into the race for Kjaer, who already has experience of playing in Italy for Roma and Palermo.

Kjaer has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Lille this season and has a contract with the club until 2017.
