Aston Villa’s hat-trick hero Christian Benteke feels his side deserved more than just a point against Queens Park Rangers last night.

Benteke scored a sublime free-kick, his third of the night, in the 83rd minute to rescue a point for Villa against a fighting QPR team at Villa Park.

QPR took the lead in the seventh minute through a Matt Phillips header, but Benteke scored two first half goals to give Villa the lead before the break.

Clint Hill’s header and Charlie Austin’s clinical finish in the second half restored the London side’s lead, but Benteke’s sublime set-piece kept the home side out of the relegation zone.

However, despite scoring a match-saving hat-trick the forward was not too pleased with the eventual result of the match.

He believes Villa were the better side on the night and deserved more than just a point against QPR. He admits that the away side were a little bit more efficient than they were which allowed them to get a point.

"I wanted more from the game”, Benteke told the club’s official website.

"It's always nice to score a hat-trick but it just a shame because we didn't get the three points.

"I thought we deserved three points. We were better than them but they were more efficient than us because they got three chances and scored each of them.”

Aston Villa will next take an away trip to Tottenham, their manager Tim Sherwood’s former team.
