Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has brushed off speculation surrounding the club's youngsters after a number of starlets were linked with a move elsewhere.

Both Sam Byram and Alex Mowatt have been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, while Mowatt has also seen his name mentioned in connection with Hull City.

With Redfearn not sure of remaining in charge of the club next season and Leeds' ownership situation continuing to attract speculation, there have been suggestions the Whites could cash in on their talented youngsters.

But Redfearn says if Leeds are serious about pushing for promotion to the Premier League they cannot afford to allow their best and brightest to leave Elland Road.

The head coach told a press conference this morning: "If we really mean business, then you don't sell your better players. You keep them.

"You always get that [speculation]. But you don't sell your best players and they want to be part of Leeds United."

And Redfearn made a bold prediction over just where the youngsters can take the Whites, adding: "They can play in the Premier League for Leeds United."

Redfearn has consistently handed opportunities to the club's youngsters since he became head coach on a permanent basis earlier this season.

Leeds blooded another in the form of Kalvin Phillips on Monday evening, in a 4-3 defeat away at Wolves in the Championship.
