Manchester United scouts were in the stands of the San Paolo to watch Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia in action against Napoli last night.

The Argentine defensive midfielder played a key role in the middle of the park as Lazio edged Napoli out of the Italian Cup with a 1-0 win at the San Paolo in the second leg of their semi-final tie.

The experienced Argentina international has been on the radar of big clubs for a few seasons now and his performances in the World Cup last summer further enhanced his reputation.

Louis van Gaal has said that he wants to add a midfielder to his squad in the summer and Manchester United scouts have been assessing a number of players across Europe as the transfer window edges nearer.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Manchester United did send a scouting missing to the San Paolo and they ran the rule over Biglia’s performance. A detailed assessment on the Argentine is expected to be on Van Gaal’s desk at Old Trafford shortly.
