Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has refused to confirm that they have made a bid for Japanese international winger Yoshinori Muto.

FC Tokyo president Naoki Ogane revealed yesterday that Mourinho’s men have lodged a bid for Japanese winger Muto and said that the Blues want to take him to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Even the player confirmed that Chelsea are interested in his services and it has been speculated that the transfer fee proposed is around the £4m mark, a record bid for a J-League based player.

However, when questioned about the rumoured bid, Mourinho remained coy and said that he is still not thinking about other players or his plans for next season.

“I don’t make bids”, Mourinho said in a press conference, when pushed on whether one has been lodged.
