Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is expecting the White Hart Lane faithful to provide a warm reception to their former manager Tim Sherwood later today.

Sherwood, currently the Aston Villa boss, is returning to White Hart Lane for the first time since he left the club last summer.

The 46-year-old took over the reins of the Spurs team after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in December 2013 and was later given an 18-month contract.

However, Tottenham sacked Sherwood last summer and Pochettino took his place in the White Hart Lane dugout.

The former England international was also in charge of the Tottenham Under-21 team and their academy before he eventually took over as manager. Many have credited him for the eventual development of Harry Kane and Ryan Mason as regular first team players.

However, Sherwood will be plotting claiming a big scalp in the former of Spurs today when he arrives at White Hart Lane as Aston Villa manager but Pochettino believes the supporters will provide a warm reception to their former boss.

“I am expecting a very good reception because he is a former manager of the club”, Pochettino said in a press conference.

“He has spent a lot of time here and has helped the academy to develop young talent; I think he should get a very good reception from the supporters.”
