Inter Milan have identified Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva and West Ham’s Alex Song as potential alternative targets to Yaya Toure.

The Manchester City midfielder remains the club’s priority target and Roberto Mancini has urged the Inter hierarchy to make the deal happen in the summer.

Despite their manager’s insistence, Inter are aware that they have to climb a financial mountain to bring Toure to Italy and though they are furiously cobbling together an offer, the club are simultaneously working on identifying alternatives in the background.

According to Sky Italia, Inter have identified Liverpool’s Lucas and West Ham’s Song as the alternative targets to the Manchester City midfielder.

Inter tried to bring Lucas to Italy in January and are keen to reignite their interest in the Brazilian at the end of the season.

West Ham are keen to sign Song on a permanent deal but are yet to agree a deal with Barcelona and the Nerazzurri are now preparing to have their say in the negotiations.

However, Inter will only move for the pair if they finally fail to bring Toure to the San Siro in the summer and he continues to remain a priority for the club.
