Former West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair feels it is the perfect time for the Hammers to face Manchester City.

Manchester City are in a dreadful run of form at the moment, which has seen them drop down to fourth in the league and they have won just four of their last 12 league fixtures.

With the title seemingly out of their grasp, Manchester City are now trying to keep the likes of Liverpool and Southampton at bay for fourth spot in the table.

The Citizens are coming into their home game against West Ham on Sunday on the back of a demoralising derby defeat at Manchester United and many feel Sam Allardyce’s troops might face the wrath of the wounded English champions.

However, Sinclair feels it is a good time for West Ham to face Manchester City as Manuel Pellegrini’s men are low on confidence at the moment and the majority of them are underperforming so a shock result is always on the cards.

“I think it is a good time to play City”, Sinclair told West Ham’s official site.

“There doesn’t seem to be much leadership and a lot of players are underperforming. That happens in football, you can’t be at the top of your game all the time.

“Obviously, losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford, the players will be hurting and they’ll want to respond to that. But it’s difficult to raise your game all of sudden when you haven’t been playing that well for a while.

“That’s why I think it’s probably a good time to play Manchester City.”

Manchester City have won their last three home games and have only lost two games at the Etihad this season.
