Valencia are stepping up on their interest in Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, who has been previously linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Argentina international recently signed a contract extension with Benfica which brought down his release clause from €45m to €35m.

The winger has been linked with move away from Benfica for a number of seasons and Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been heavily talked about with regards to Gaitan in the past. Liverpool are also believed to be keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.

Chelsea are also thought to be one of the clubs taking an interest in Gaitan and recently sent a scouting mission to watch him in action for Benfica.

Valencia were interested to take him to Spain in the winter window but signed Enzo Perez. According to O Jogo, they are now keen to step up on their interest in Gaitan and are ready to make a move for him in the summer.
