Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that there are currently no talks taking place over him extending his contract with Manchester City.

The Manchester City boss’ deal with the club runs out in the summer of 2016 and many believe he will do well to survive at the Etihad until then following a slump in form.

Manchester City were joint top with Chelsea in the Premier League table on New Year’s Day, but a dreadful run of form, which has seen them collect just four wins from their last 12 league fixtures, has seen them drop down to fourth in the table.

With their hopes of retaining their Premier League title in tatters, the Citizens are now fighting to keep the likes of Liverpool and Southampton away from the Champions League spots.

There is speculation that Pellegrini might face the sack if they fail to finish the season strongly but he stressed that he is happy at the club and enjoys the support of the owners and the supporters.

However, he did say that there are no talks in place to extend his contract with the club beyond next summer.

"I'm very happy at Manchester City – one of the biggest clubs in the world", the 61-year-old told the BBC.

"I'm happy with the fans, owners – disappointed with results but very happy here.

"I have one more year, I don't need [talks]. I had a contract for three years, I don't talk about extending. The first year was very good, second year not so good."

A win tomorrow against West Ham at home could spark a revival for Manchester City in the last stretch of the season, Pellegrini will hope.
