Leeds United youngster Lewis Cook has been awarded the Championship Apprentice of the Year award.

Cook was handed the honour at a ceremony this evening, beating off competition from Charlton's Joe Gomez and Millwall's Fred Onyedinma.

The Leeds youngster has taken home the award, capping off a memorable season of regular first team football at Elland Road for the midfielder.

So far Cook has clocked up 37 appearances in the Championship for the Whites, helping them steer clear of the relegation zone. Cook has also earned one League Cup appearance.

His performances have further enhanced his reputation and have drawn links with a number of Premier League sides.

Indeed, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been credited with taking an interest in Cook.

It remains to be seen where the youngster will be playing his football next season, but Whites head coach Neil Redfearn has been vocal about the club's need to hold onto Cook and other youngsters brought through the academy system at Elland Road.
