Leeds United legend Trevor Cherry believes that the Whites should sack six players who pulled out of their weekend game against Charlton Athletic through injury.

Goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, defenders Giuseppe Bellusci and Dario Del Fabro, and strikers Mirco Antenucci, Souleymane Doukara and Edgar Cani all ruled themselves out of action on Friday.

Several saw head coach Neil Redfearn prior to training on Friday to claim they were injured and could not participate, while the remainder pulled up in training, claiming injury.

Redfearn says he has to take the players on their word, but Leeds fans have been left feeling that all six, five of whom were signed by the club's banned president Massimo Cellino, being injured at the same time is too much of a coincidence.

And for former defender Cherry, Leeds should sack all six players for their actions.

"I would sack them and take the Professional Footballers' Association on", he told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I don't think players can do that. It's scandalous and it's just another story for Leeds United that is disgraceful.

"I don't know exactly why the players [withdrew] and it might be one or two of them have got a good excuse, but it sounds too stupid to be true", the 67-year-old added.

Leeds, who lost 2-1 to Charlton, have just two more matches to play this season, with games against Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United to round off their Championship season.
