Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes his star striker Harry Kane should thank his Spurs team-mates for his goalscoring feats this season.

Kane’s 90th minute strike in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Newcastle yesterday was his 30th goal of the season in all competitions and his 20th in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old, who made his first league start this season in November, became the first Spurs striker to score 30 goals in a campaign since Gary Lineker in the 1991/92 season.

Kane has been one of the finds of the season for English football and he even scored a goal in his England debut last month with just his third touch off the bench.

The Tottenham boss is pleased with Kane’s exploits this term and showered words of praise on the new striking sensation.

However, he also feels that the forward owes a lot to his Spurs team-mates, who work hard to create the opportunities for him in front of goal.

"Congratulations to him because he deserves this moment”, Pochettino told the BBC.

"I think he needs to pay for a dinner this week for his team-mates. The team work a lot and try to help him score."

Currently he is the joint top scorer in the Premier League with Sergio Aguero on 20 goals and now Kane has the opportunity to become the first English striker since Kevin Phillips in the 1999/00 season to finish the campaign as the leading goalscorer in the league.
