Tom Cleverley admits that under Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa often gamble by pushing men forward, something which has reaped rich dividends for the Midlands club.

Cleverley is on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United for the season and was in fine form yesterday when his side saw off Liverpool 2-1 in their FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley.

A feel-good factor has been brought back to Villa by new manger Sherwood, who has encouraged his charges to attack following years of cautious football under his predecessor Paul Lambert.

"He has brought an attacking style of football", Cleverley explained to the FA, speaking about Sherwood.

"At times we gamble, and it is a case of entertaining the fans and that’s what was needed to bring back to the football club", the Manchester United contracted midfielder added.
