Colombia striker Carlos Bacca has defended his international team-mate Radamel Falcao, insisting that he still retains the faith of the South American nation.

Falcao is currently on a season-long loan at Manchester United, but has struggled badly in England. The Colombian misfired again on Sunday in Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea and has just four goals all season to his name for the Red Devils.

The former Atletico Madrid hitman regularly warms the bench under manager Louis van Gaal and Manchester United do not look set to try to keep him on a permanent basis when his loan from Monaco expires in the summer.

Bacca, who plays his club football for Sevilla, told Gazzetta dello Sport: "He [Falcao] is calm, despite the fact Van Gaal does not believe in him.

"In Colombia we all believe in him."

And Bacca feels that Falcao is now increasingly focused on showing what he can do at the Copa America this summer.

"He is thinking about the Copa America and taking part in the right shape.

"Everyone knows what he can do."

Falcao may need a strong Copa America to underline his quality and convince potential suitors to dip into their pocket to take him from Monaco.

The striker is thought to earn around €12m per year with the Ligue 1 side.
