Inter are rapidly closing in on agreeing a new contract with Mauro Icardi after reaching an agreement in principle over a four-year deal.

The Nerazzurri are desperate to tie down the Argentine hitman, with the knowledge that a number of clubs have been showing an increasing interest in his services, including English pair Chelsea and Manchester United.

Now, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Inter have thrashed out a four-year contract with Icardi, which will also see the striker keep hold of his image rights and pick up an extra bonus payment for his efforts this season.

All the agreement needs to proceed is authorisation from Inter's owner, Erick Thohir.

Keeping hold of Icardi would be a big boost for the Nerazzurri heading into next season, with the striker their standout performer this term.
