Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn feels that forward Brian Montenegro would be a good player for the Whites to keep this summer, as he thinks the Paraguayan has a bright future ahead of him.

Redfearn took in Leeds Under-21s' 4-1 thrashing of Huddersfield on Monday afternoon, a game in which Montenegro hit the back of the net on three occasions.

The starlet looked bright throughout and proved too hot to handle for the Huddersfield defence, who had no answer to his clinical finishing.

Montenegro is on loan at Leeds for the season from Nacional and no word has yet been heard over whether Leeds will move to keep him on a permanent basis.

Redfearn feels that Montenegro staying at Elland Road would be a wise move due to his undoubted potential.

The head coach told LUTV: "Brian with his hat-trick took his goals well and looked bright in and around the box.

"His finishing was excellent. He's alive and alert in the box and he's scored a lot of goals this season for the 21s.

"He's been patient for his time. He came on for the first team at Charlton and showed some nice, neat touches", the head coach continued.

"So he's one that's got a really bright future if we can keep hold of him."

It remains to be seen whether Redfearn will hand Montenegro minutes for the first team in Leeds' final two games of the season, away at Sheffield Wednesday and at home to Rotherham United.
